the little Einhorn in me
Y'know, I never liked Halloween very much, even when I was a kid.
My usual Halloween strategy as an adult has been that if I don't just ignore it altogether I scramble around at the last minute and find something lame. One year it was a pair of slightly ratty (please pardon mixed metaphor) rabbit ears -leftover from Easter, the year I lived near a costume shop- and a cotton tail stuck onto the butt of my jeans. Which didn't go unappreciated by our company's rather intensely gregarious (and very loud!- some of you know who I am talking about!) HR woman, who, I found out later, had worked as a Playboy bunny way back in the day.
And yet here I am obsessed with this idea of riding in unicorn regalia tomorrow night in the Halloween mass. Thus I have spent most of yesterday and part of today crafting a splendid pair of white vinyl gauntlet/fetlocks, trimmed in white fur, with black hand-hoofies that would make any pony-fetishist (I know you're out there, hey whatever floats yer boat I always say) weak in the knees. So cute!! And plus this morning an elegant papier-mache Einhorn, complete with twisted paper twisty-texture! Was papier-mache so easy in grade school and I just didn't notice? Because I remember a much lumpier experience.
Anyway, Bring on the glitter and I will be all set.
Costume design is not for the meek, I am discovering, and yet I find I am not bad at it, and kinda digging it. Maybe I've missed my calling??
I'm really looking forward to riding my bike with hooves, that's all I know. What is it about wearing hooves?? Don't answer that!!!
In knitting news, Agnes seems to be blossoming into quite the young lady. I am halfway through the right front, and the mismatched colors are coming together quite nicely. The sleeves are going to be an interesting exercise in blending scrap yarn with one skein of Noro, ah yes, I shoulda bought that third skein when I had the chance! But this is just the kind of situation that keeps things interesting for the disorganized knitting anarchist, riding that edge of adrenalin into unknown, unforseen knitting outcomes. Delicious ambiguity! Just like life- There you have it, gentle readers, the Knit-A-Log Thought For The Day™.
Don't stop believin' it, as the song goes.
Mettle to the Unicorns.

God...I'd forgotten about P.W. as a bunny. I personally would give anything to see pictures of THAT.
Great seeing you yesterday.

Though I know of no mythology to back this up, I have a sneaking suspicion that fuzzy bears find unicorns to be both lovely and delicious. I'm just saying...
You WILL share pictures of you in costume, yes?

We're going to have to pool some finances together to get you a camera. I wish to see this unicorn regalia and the Agnes as well of course.
